#MENTALHEALTHAWARENESSMONTH

" Everyday, begin with an act of hope and courage. Getting out of bed" - Mason Cooley

Let me tell you something about April; I aspire to be more like her. Actually, I think that WE, as a society should aspire to be more like April. Never overstay your welcome!

Guys, we finally made it to MAY!!! *crowd cheers*. Honestly, this is my favorite month. I remember when 2020 started, I told myself that I was going to keep pushing no matter what and guess what I did? I pushed.

I started off my year in the hospital. Wait. Hold on ... Before I give you a long story short, let me just open up a parenthesis because I don't get to acknowledge my support system often.

[ ... I have a friend who became my sister. Her name is Vanessa Jules. My heart gets full every time I think about what she's done for little ol' me throughout the years. I want to give a big fat thank you to her. I'm not the most opened person, but she's been patient with me every step of the way. I can never say this enough, I love you friend.]

On January 24th 2020, I went on a mini friends getaway that turned into an ER trip. The same weekend the first case of the Covid19 was announced in Toronto. Thankfully, I wasn't admitted in the same hospital as the first diagnosed patient. Phew !

I went to the hospital because I started vomiting blood. I couldn't breathe and my chest was burning. Come to find out, I had built up acid in my stomach that burnt my esophagus due to vomiting and it caused blood to come out.

When I came back home, reality set in. When I was in the hospital, I was in a state of mind that was deteriorating and I kept avoiding it. I've had my body tell me to chill before but THIS time though, my body let go. If you won't talk about it, it will come out eventually.

With how the world is going right now, our mental health is affected. We are forced to see the reality of our lives and we have no choice but to deal with it. All I ask is that each and everyone of us, deals with it slowly. There's no need to rush this process, take the time you need to really be present.

If you need to call/email/skype/zoom/oovoo/MSN your therapist, do it. If you need to speak to a friend/family member, do it (please check on their mental health as well before dumping everything on them) and if you have to pray, please Pray. Whatever you do, deal with it to the best of your ability.

Dear God,

You brought us to a brand new month and we thank you. You are the master of time and circumstances. We leave everything in your mighty hands. Teach us. Assist us. Be with us.
Let May be a month of progress. Happiness and most importantly a clean mind, body and soul.

Amen.
