Blindfolded Applause.
" Believe me, when you're not looking, someone is clapping for you."
I was on the bus on my way home from work one night and I was listening to music. I can honestly tell you that most of my best adventures happens on public transportation. This time though, I noticed a familiar face. At first I couldn't place where I've seen this person before and it took me a little while; Only to realize that he was a manager at one of my old jobs. This was the second time I seen him that week. The first time I didn't pay him any mind but this time I couldn't believe that it was actually him.
The bus was full and he was looking for a place to sit, luckily for him two people from the same row were getting off at the same stop so he decided to replace them. He was in such a rush to sit that the bag that he had around him, he didn't fully remove it so he sat uncomfortably.
A couple of minutes went by and the bus was approaching his stop. That's when I noticed it. He was struggling to re-position the bag on his back. The string he had around his neck was stuck to his winter coat so it was a battle going on between him the bag and his winter coat. He was getting frustrated and tired. He didn't want to ask for help and was looking around to see if someone was watching him struggle and everybody else were on their phones. You probably think " so you saw him struggle, why not help him ? " I'll tell you why, I was sitting a little further from him so I couldn't make my way to him. Plus, you just never know how one would of reacted to me trying to help seeing that he already looked very frustrated and ready to rip the string off his bag.
Long story short, it took him to arrive closer to his destination to re-position his bag accordingly. This is going to sound very corny but I was so proud of him I begin to smile to myself. I even clapped and people around me looked at me funny but I didn't care. I was really proud of him.
This story goes to show you how in your moments of struggles, when there's absolutely no more hope and frustration is building up and you're ready to quit just remember that someone somewhere is watching you and they are watching your progress and they're not only being inspired by you but they're also clapping for you. I believe that this year, I will have those moments where I'm faced with a lot but, remembering that I am in a position of inspiring someone or changing someone's mood for the day because of what I did good will be more then sufficient for me to continue story telling and inspiring those around me.
Better said than done but stay your true authentic self, you don't know who you're paving the way for and who you're inspiring through your journey.
Dear God,
It takes a lot for someone to realize that they are born with a special gift that should be unwrapped for others to see and be inspired by it.
Thank you for opening me up this year,
for helping me foresee the road to where I am headed.
This year, I ask for your divine intervention, that when I begin to doubt my gift,
remind me that I'm not only doing this for myself but I'm also doing it for the next generation,
for those who are headed in the same direction as me and those who are still trying to figure out where they are headed.
Be the inspiration behind each and everyone of my words.
Amen.
